Opelle Woman - Karolina Loboda
Karolina Loboda is the creative force behind the branding & art direction atelier theWhiteRoom. We first connected with her when we approached theWhiteRoom to create a new visual identity for Opelle. As Karolina was with us for the ‘birth’ of our brand, we think it is only fitting that she take the lead in the Opelle woman series. We sat down with Karolina in her Riverdale home to catch up.
Karolina’s creative eye spills over from her work to her personal life. An avid art collector and fashion lover, she has a colorfully curated home that is equally inspirational and warm. Her children’s art has shared wall space with her grandfather’s original oil paintings. “I cannot image my life and home not immersed with art. I grew up watching my father paint everyday so naturally, art has always been a part of my life. Our collection includes posters from the Polish Poster Museum, my father & mother's art, pieces we have won at auction, and art from young emerging artists.”
Karolina has lent her talents to local brands such as Biko jewellry, photographer Michael Alberstat and the Art Gallery of Mississauga. Being surrounded by art has translated naturally into her work. “Passion and curiosity keeps my mind stimulated, allowing me to channel my design solutions into something relevant and timeless.”
With over 5 years of friendship and mutual support between us, Karolina has acquired an enviable Opelle collection.
Her current favourite? The Silver Metal Tote. “I have taken it on trips abroad, meetings, grocery shopping etc. I love the simplicity and stylish function of the bag. It also fits a 15" laptop which is ideal for client meetings. On an average day, I carry inside, my wallet, iPhone, perfume, sunglasses, hair elastics, lipsticks, face compact, water bottle, diapers, and wipes (for my baby) extra jewelry in the inside back pocket. As a working mom, my days are hectic and I need to dash and go! The Opelle bag allows me to dash in style.”
